The Day I Got Lucky; 27.11.08

I’VE WATCHED TWILIGHT!!!!! Yup, and I watched it on the opening day itself without doing further booking.

Dad promised us to take us to the movies to catch Twilight after a snack. Well, he and Mom are going to catch the new Bond flick. Dad didn’t wanna watch “some vampire movie”, he said. We went home to change and stuff, so it took quite awhile for both Mom and Dad to get ready.

Mom, Dad, sis and I were stuck in a bad traffic jam at 6.30 pm on our way to Sunway Pyramid. The show starts at 6.45 pm, FYI. At that time, Lovebug was playing on Hitz, and I felt like something good is gonna happen. You see, I believe that when my favorite song is playing at a crucial moment will bring good luck. So I told myself that things might turn out good. But a part of me said, “Don’t get hopes too high, or else you’ll disappoint yourself”. Sis chirped in, “We’ll never get tickets. It’s, like, 10 minutes before show time. And by the way, today’s opening day.” Then, she showed me a text message that Shauna sent to her. She watched on the same day as well, and she said the theater was fully occupied. I stuck my tongue at her when she looked away. I was praying hard and crossed my fingers, hoping that Sis was wrong about her prediction.

Dad dropped us at the main entrance of Sunway Pyramid to rush to the cinema to get movie tickets. I walked quickly, ahead of Mom and Sis, and I heard Sis telling Mom that we’ll never get tickets at the last minute and that we should catch the one at 9.20 pm. Ignoring their conversation, I picked up my pace and walked quicker that I didn’t realize that I was half-running to the cinema. Thank God the queue wasn’t long at the ticket counter.

To my surprise, the 9.20 pm show was full, not the 6.45 pm one. Can you believe that? It’s pure luck, I’m telling you. Why won’t the earlier show be full house 3 minutes before it’s about to start? And we got quite good seats, too. Yes, we had only 3 minutes before the show starts. So, we got the 6.45 pm show and Mom and Dad got the 7.20 pm show for the Bond flick. We bid goodbye to Mom and ran to the theater hall. We chose to stop by the washroom before entering the theater hall, but we know that the chances of us missing the beginning of the movie are high. But, we didn’t even miss any part of the movie. We even caught a few advertisements before the movie too!

Sis and I dropped by the bookstore after our show. It’s our favorite place, plus Dad told us to wait there for them cause their movie ends later. We walked around and got ourselves the High School Musical 3: Senior Year junior novel and Camp Rock: #Session 1 and #Session 2 novels. These novels have bookmarks with the characters of the movie in the middle of the novel. So, Sis picked the novels and prayed that we get bookmarks with our favorite characters on it. We paid before Mom and Dad meet up with us (they sorta kill if we buy it ourselves).

We left the mall and head home after meeting up. Mom said she wanted to have some cake and brownies, so we stopped by Summit to get some. Dad dropped us and waited in the car for us. We wanted to go for Secret Recipe, but it had closed down there. So, we went for the Swedish bakery opposite Starbucks. I wanted to try Starbucks’ Dark Cherry Mocha Frap, so Sis went with me to Starbucks. After we paid RM 16.80 for our drink, I took a sip of the Frap. It tastes just like the normal Frap, I said to myself. I shrugged and thought that I haven’t got the taste of the cherry and went back to the bakery to meet up with Mom.

When I turned around, I saw the cashier who attended to us waving and calling us back. I ran there and at that minute, I knew that he gave us the wrong Frap.

“I think we made you the wrong one,” Worker 1, the guy who attended us earlier, said.

“Yeah, that’s why I don’t taste cherry in it,” I teased.
“Wow, I didn’t know you actually want to taste the fruit in it,” Worker 2 laughed.
“What’s going on? They didn’t pay for their coffee?” Mom asked, curious.
“Oh no, we just gave them the wrong one,” Worker 1 said.
“Oh, okay. So what about the coffee they are having now?” Mom asked.
“You can just have it,” Worker 2 smiled.
“Oh, double joy!” I said, giggling.
“You’ll just get double brain freeze!” Worker 1 said, grinning.
“Here’s your Dark Cherry Mocha Frap.” Worker 2 passed us another cup of Starbucks.
“Thank you so much!” Sis and I said, waving goodbye to them.

We went into the car and told Dad all about it. He just grinned and said that we’re really lucky. When we reached home, Sis ran and told Grandma about it. Gran said there’s no such thing as luck. She just shook her head and said it was a coincidence. I passed her the normal Frap and had the Dark Cherry Frap.

When Mom and Dad were busy watching telly, I snuck up to my room and unsealed the transparent wrapper of the books that we bought. I ripped off the wrapper of the Camp Rock: #Session 2 novel first, and the character on the bookmark is Mitchie and Shane (Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas). At the back of it is Mitchie along with the band members of Connect 3 (Demi Lovato and the Jonas Brothers). It’s so freaking amazing cause they’re my favorite characters in the movie! Then, I opened the wrapper of Camp Rock: #Session 1. I caught a glimpse of the character printed on the bookmark. It’s Mitchie (although I was hoping for Shane), with Mitchie and the members of Connect 3 at the back of it. I was quite pleased with what I got. The last one, High School Musical 3: Senior Year. We got the bookmark with Sharpay (Ashley Tisdale) on it! How cool is that? FYI, Sis admires Ashley Tisdale, so she’s quite pleased when I showed it to her.

That’s what had happened on the day I got lucky, November 27 2008. Got quite good seats to watch Twilight on the premiere day itself without further booking, got two Starbucks Frap for RM 16.80 and got three bookmarks with my favorite characters on it from my favorite movies along with two posters (Camp Rock and High School Musical 3: Senior Year). It just made my list as one of the best things that happened in my life.

I will never forget the day I got lucky, 271108. =)

P.S: Girls were screaming and guys were cheering when Edward Cullen first appeared on screen. xD
